| About TBOC |
The Tera Byte Optical Memory Consortium (TBOC) in Japan has been founded in January, 1999 for aiming at optical disk systems with a recording density of more than 1 Tbit/inch2. In order to realize large capacity optical disk systems, it is necessary to develop the basic technologies of various fields such as optics, electronics, mechanics and other related fields. Therefore, the mutual collaboration with universities and industries are essentially important as well as collaboration in industries.
The overall purpose of TBOC is to promote and support those research and
development at universities and industries. |
The scope of TBOC will include the following projects
• Promote and support the research related to high density optical disk
systems at universities
• Activate the collaboration of industry
• Workshop and topical meeting
• Research grant and scholarship for students
